Invitation

On behalf of the Institute of Normal and Pathological Physiology, Slovak Academy of Sciences (INPP SAS) it is my great pleasure to invite and welcome you to the fifth international symposium: “Lifestyle and Risk Factors in Diseases of Civilization“.

According to the World Health Organization burden of chronic diseases, including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, and mental disorders as well, is rapidly increasing worldwide. Chronic lifestyle-related diseases and metabolic syndrome account for millions of deaths each year and are the leading causes of mortality in industrialized countries. Thus, the overall goal of this symposium is to bring together physicians and scientists from diverse fields with a common interest in mechanisms operating within pathophysiology of lifestyle-related diseases and their prevention and treatments.

Symposium will be held in the Congress Centre Academia of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Stará Lesná, Slovakia in October 13-14, 2012 and it is coupled with the International C.I.A.N.S. Conference organized by the C.I.A.N.S. and INPP SAS. The participants are encouraged to participate in both events and to enjoy the stay in Tatra Mountain region.

The programme of the Symposium includes key note lectures on selected topics, free oral and poster sessions. We will be delighted if you could consider participating in this meeting and sharing the results of your work with us, as well as your thoughts and expertise.
We hope we will provide a place not only for a fruitful scientific discussion but also for a lively social exchange in a pleasant and informal friendly atmosphere.
